(I Chronicles 22:7-10) "And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house unto the name of the Lord my God: But the word of the Lord came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight. Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days. He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever." God had chosen Solomon of all the sons of David (for he had many) to build the house of the Lord. David commissioned his son, "And thou, Solomon, my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever. Take heed now; for the Lord hath chosen thee to build an house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it. Then David gave to Solomon his son the pattern of the porch, and of the houses thereof, and of the treasuries thereof, and of the upper chambers thereof, and of the inner place of the mercy seat, And the pattern of all that he had by the spirit, of the courts of the house of the Lord, and of all the chambers round about, of the treasuries of the dedicated things." (I Chronicles 28:9-12) Solomon built the house of the Lord according to the pattern given him by David in Mount Moriah. When the work was completed, Solomon brought in all the things that David, his father, had dedicated; and the silver and the gold and all the instruments, he put among the treasures of the house of God.

    (See II Chronicles 5:2-12)The ark of the covenant was then brought to the house in the time of the feast, which was in the seventh month. The congregation of Israel sacrificed sheep and oxen before the ark to bring it to the oracle of the house, into the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims. There was nothing in the ark, save the two tables which Moses put in at Horeb. And it came to pass as the one hundred and twenty priests sounding with ". . . trumpeters and the singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord; So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God." (II Chronicles 5:13-14)

    ". . . Solomon. . . kneeled down upon his knees before all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven" (II Chronicles 6:13 and see 6:14-42) and prayed for the children of Israel. (II Chronicles 7:1-3) "Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the house. And the priests could not enter into the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord’s house. And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the Lord upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the Lord. . ." "Also at the same time Solomon kept the feast seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Egypt. And in the eighth day they made a solemn assembly: for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days. And on the three and twentieth day of the seventh month he sent the people away into their tents, glad and merry in heart for the goodness that the Lord had shewed unto David, and to Solomon, and to Israel his people. Thus Solomon finished the house of the Lord, and the king’s house: and all that came into Solomon’s heart to make in the house of the Lord, and in his own house, he prosperously effected. And the Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice. If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." (II Chronicles 7:8-14)

   Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel, forty years. He had surpassed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom. There was not to be another king of Israel, of the sons of David, that compared to Solomon, till Jesus came to His own andHis own received him not. The Hebrews were looking for another Solomon, but Jesus revealed to those that had an ear to hear in Matthew 12:42 "The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgement with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here." The Lord of all lords, the coming son of David, the bright and morning star, the son of a carpenter (to the natural eye), the maker of all things "new", is in the spirit.

    Jesus began working on a building and commissioned his body (the church) to join in. (John 14:12) "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." In John 14:2, Jesus had stated "in my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for [ can be translated from the Greek, ‘where’, as in ‘where you are’]you." The word ‘mansion’ in the Greek [MONE], is the same Greek word that is translated ‘abode’ in verse 23. " ‘ In my Father’s house are many abodes.’" Also, if we take the same liberty as the translator and use the word ‘mansion’ in verse 23, we will have " ‘. . . and we will come unto him, and make our mansion [MONE] with him.’" Sounds like ‘Christ in us, the hope of glory’, doesn’t it? The word ‘with’ in the Greek [SUN] denotes ‘strong union’. If by exposing the real house of the Lord, then what part of the ‘mansion over yonder’ (which is built on sand) is needed? There is no night there. We won’t need a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen or even a roof. If you want the mansion just for the prestige, well, there will be no pride there either. AMEN! In truth, John saw ". . . no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it." (Revelation 21:22)

   (Acts 2:1-4) "And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled (". . . about one hundred and twenty" see Acts 1:15) with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." The whole house was filled with the Holy Ghost, God’s new living temple had received the householder. Jesus had already instructed them that by receiving him whom he would send, they were receiving Him (see John 13:20). God had made his MONE (abode/mansion) with man. This spiritual tabernacle had fulfilled the pattern tabernacle that Solomon had built. The 120 priests of that tabernacle had not been able to stand in that first measure of God’s glory. But there was more to come in Solomon’s day and there is more to come in our day.

    (Hebrews 3:1-6) "Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house. For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house. For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God. And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things where were to be spoken after; But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end." Our confidence and hope brings rejoicing unto the end! This ‘Christ in us, our hope of glory’, the ‘one who has come, and is come, and is yet to come’ is again filling His house with glory. Nothing built of the natural will be able to stand in this latter glory. Peter revealed (I Peter 4:12-13) "Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy." He continued (I Peter 4:17-18) "For the time is come that judgement must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?"

    Isaiah foresaw this coming judgement of the church (Isaiah 1:24-28) "Therefore saith the Lord, the Lord of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies: And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin: And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city. Zion shall be redeemed with judgement, and her converts with righteousness. And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the Lord shall be consumed."

    Jeremiah had seen Babylon (the false church) brought down, (Jeremiah 51:20-25) "Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy the kingdoms; And with thee will I break in pieces the horse and his rider; and with thee will I break in pieces the chariot and his rider; With thee also will I break in pieces man and woman; and with thee will I break in pieces old and young; and with thee will I break in pieces the young man and the maid; I will also break in pieces with thee the shepherd and his flock; and with thee will I break in pieces the husbandman and his yoke of oxen; and with thee will I break in pieces captains and rulers. And I will render unto Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight, saith the Lord. Behold, I am against thee, O destroying mountain, saith the Lord, which destroyest all the earth: and I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and roll thee down from the rocks, and will make thee a burnt mountain." The presence of the latter glory will reveal the son of perdition with the brightness (manifestation) of his coming (see Haggai 2:7-9). Jesus is with thee. ". . . He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: Whose fan is in his hand and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable." (Luke 3:16-17)

He who hath an ear to hear, let him hear.
